2000-2001: Cisco Systems
Education Specialist
I worked in the IOS Learning Services department, creating course curricula on the fundamentals of routing and switching, the internal architecture of the Cisco IOS software, and other related projects as part of the Cisco e-learning initiative. I also constructed an internal training Web site (part of Cisco's intranet) for Cisco IOS Software version 12.2.
1998-2000: WordWave/VITAC
Director, Internet Technologies (WordWave Corporate)
VITAC was acquired by WordWave in early 2000, after which I moved up to a headquarters staff position.
- Designed and built highly successful recruiting/PR Web site covering all 18 subsidiaries
- Designed and developed site generator for article-based Web sites (written in Perl)
- As Editor-in-Chief of ReporterCentral, built one of the largest collections of reporting/captioning articles on the Web, which included writing 52 articles and 4 book reviews myself
Chief Technology Strategist (VITAC Division)
Responsible for closed-captioning related technology assessment, development, and acquisition for the largest captioning company in the United States.
- Designed and managed development of a groundbreaking nonlinear captioning system
- Designed and managed development of a TCP/IP-based realtime caption delivery system
- Designed and wrote specifications for a generalized realtime caption delivery system
- Redesigned VITAC's corporate Web site
- Represented VITAC on national standards committees
1987-1998: Cheetah Systems, Inc.
Founder, Chairman and Chief Technology Officer
Actively oversaw and participated in all development projects for niche market software company.
- Built company from #11 in the court reporting software market to #3
- Built closed captioning products to over 60% market share
- Designed and prototyped user interfaces for all products
- Wrote critical code when required (mostly C/C++ with some Delphi and VB)
- Created and maintained online presence (Web site, BBS, CompuServe, ftp site...)
- Put on numerous training seminars for customers, trade associations, and employees
- Produced training videos and Macromedia presentations. Won "best short video" advertising award
- Managed writing/publishing of five software manuals, including doing much of the writing

1982-1987: Array Technology, Inc.
Founder & Vice President
Custom microelectronics company, which grew to $20M in sales in four years with no venture capital.
- Designed seven integrated circuits (disk drive and video control)
- Co-developed gate array family, and designed many macros
- Wrote gate array design manual
- Specified, purchased, configured, and managed $1 million network of CAD/CAE workstations
- Created numerous development tools, including automatic test program generation and chip layout planning tools (most written in Pascal)
- Created innovative behavioral modeling system for mixed digital/analog circuits
- Managed high-volume robotic surface mount PCB assembly facility with 65 employees
Vice President, Robson Technologies, Inc. (1994-99)
Spin-off of Array Technology, specializing in design and prototyping of IC test fixtures and subsystems.
- Consulted part-time for five years on technical issues
- Developed custom software to automatically generate annular layouts for test fixtures (Delphi)

Spanned software development, training, and product marketing departments as integrated circuit design specialist for $500M CAD software company.
- Wrote multiuser, multitasking minicomputer operating system (assembly language)
- Implemented programming language based on Tiny BASIC (assembly language)
- Developed IC design and verification application software (assembly language)
- Worked with a technical writer to create 700-page software manual for IC design system
- Trained new programming team before moving to product marketing
