Curriculum Vitae

I am an accomplished court reporter and captioner, and my achievements have been recognized through a special resolution from the City of Fremont, California, a front-page article in the San Jose Mercury News, an article featuring me in Fortune Magazine, a profile in the Journal of Court Reporting, and articles in several local newspapers.

Credentials
Degree:	Associate in Science degree in Court Reporting, 1981
CSR:	California CSR #5439, issued in 1981
RPR:	I initially received my RPR in 1980 and let it lapse. I re-tested in 1990 and have held the RPR since then.
CRR:	In 1993, I became one of the first 55 people in the country to receive the CRR, and later worked on the CRR committee for NCRA.

Teaching:	I received my teaching credential in Court Reporting from the State of California in 1989 (it has since expired). Business History
2000-now	Freelance Captioning I am captioning news, sports, and government programming for several captioning firms across the United States.
1998-now	VITAC - Captioner VITAC purchased Bay Area Captioning in 1998, and I continued covering news and sports as a freelancer with more focus on a national level.
1992-2001	Mission Peak Captioning - Founder, Captioner Mission Peak was my own freelance firm, where I did work for the City of Fremont, and miscellaneous convention and Internet jobs.
1993-1998	Bay Area Captioning, Inc. - Captioner At Bay Area Captioning, I held down a regular news schedule as well as baseball and basketball games. I also did emergency coverage, including coordinating captioning coverage for three stations during major flooding when the firm owners were on vacation.
1987-1998	Cheetah Systems, Inc. - Founder, Board Member, Vice President I co-founded Cheetah, and worked virtually every job in the company. My principal responsibilities included accounting, coordinating trade shows and ad placements, seminars, demonstrating the products, helping the technical support hotline, and software testing.
1981-1989	Weber & Volzing - Court Reporter I did freelance deposition work for Weber & Volzing in San Jose, CA, specializing in high-technology cases, where I developed a loyal clientele.
Memberships
NCRA:	(National Court Reporters Association) Member since 1981. I served for five years on the Realtime Certification Committee.
MCRA:	(Montana Court Reporters Association) Current member. Co-chair for 2005 annual convention.
DRA:	(Deposition Reporters Association of California) I was a member from DRA's formation until 2002, and was on the original Technology Committee.
BAGRA:	(Bay Area General Reporters Association) I was a longtime member, and served as President, Treasurer, and Seminar Chair.
CCRA:	(California Court Reporters Association) Member, 1981-1995.
Other:	I was on the Court Reporting Department Advisory Committee for West Valley College in Saratoga, CA for six years.
